paella recipe

Last weekend we arranged to meet some friends at the Llamón (Ana parent’s home in town)
Unfortunately it was raining on Saturday morning
And they decide not to come.
It was a pity
But…we also had lunch an dinner
So I did the same paella that I had thought at first.
And I’m going to tell you how I did the paella…
(To keep going on practice with my English, so please correct me if I'm wrong)

I asked Mary for garlic, onion, pepper and tomato source.
Then I got out to buy all the rest of the products I need for good meat paella.
A bag of mushrooms, half a rabbit, half a chicken, Half a kilo of pork (another day I translate it to pounds), a sausage packet
I also bought the rice of course, and a couple of white Galician wine, and bear for the cooker.
When I looked for a “paellera” (a large shallow pan with two handles), I found nothing in all the LLamón,
Then I realize I need something circular and big to cook the paella too.
So I got out (again) to get the kitchen stuffs.
I got it in a local store, a 40cm diameter ring, with connect tube to the butane gas cylinder.

Now, yes…I got it, unbelievable!

First the stock, so I put in a pan, one leek, onion, carrot and a bit of pumpkin, salted water with a bit of olive oil…I boil it for 20 minutes.
At the same time I prepare the outside kitchen stuff, and I put it below the stairs because it was probably raining again.

I lighted the ring and put on the pan with a bit of olive oil.
Then diced the vegetables, next I brown it.

After doing it I put the vegetables out and I began to fry the meat, first the sausage and pork

Rabbit and chicken the next


Finally I mix everything into the pan and added the tomato source and the stock.
I counted the stock mugs I put it because the race is in function of the stock.
When the stock was boiling I took the race in the pan. I put 4 mugs of rice and 9 mugs of stock

And I waited


This was the final result.

Also, a house that is deeper than 32 feet may require specially-designed roof trusses, which will make your costs go through the roof.

Today I'll tray to translate another text I found in internert, this time about the estimators, my profession. Here in Spain we call "técnico de estudios"

Estimators predict the costs of future construction projects. Los de estudios predicen el coste de los proyectos que se van a construir en el futuro. The cost of a project is important because several contractors often submit bids or price quotes on a construction job. I keep going practicing my write English,
Today I'm trying to translate my post called "plan estrategico anticrisis" I put in January the 9.
These are the notes I took in a Professor Pedro Bueno conference.
First some general reflexions about crisis:

In all Trades, in all crisis, always someone survives.
Crisis don't ruin everything, something still works.
Some companies really crack because the crisis, but others crack because they haven't done well their job.
Cycles exist.
An Advice: Don't hide the problems to much time, under carpet.

Now some questions to make a Strategic Business Plan

-What could I do?, How many thing I could do?
-How could I finance it?
-Am I in the right place? (this is my one)
World is so little and it's no raining in all places.
-Have I got the right size? (I'm talking about the company)
-Who will do the labour?
Have I got the right labour team? (quality and quantify)
-Have I got the technological right level.
Kodak was the number one but cracks when digital photo born.
-Have I got the right structure capital?
-Have I got anything other companies don't have?
-It's better to give something else than sales.
The "low cost" only works if there is only one by sector.
-How much is my company?
I make money every day or I spend it

holiday

"Holiday" is always in singular. For example, "I’m on holiday this summer" but when you use the expression "during the holidays" is plural or Speak about children’s holidays for example "the summer holidays"

I last was on holiday I was at a village on the coast of Asturias near Galicia.
During the holidyas, I got up with the sun, fed the hens and the chicken, and helped the farmer to milk her cows… went for stroll at sunset...
It was marvellous to live to nature’s rhythm,
It wasn’t exactly that it was but …
It sounds better than the typical “ I got up and went to lie down at beach all day …”

It uses always in singular
but it can be singular of plural...
for example

The news is good. (plural used in singular)
A piece of news is good (singular used in singular)

The Spanish talk English like we think in Spanish (al menos al principio), so that we say for example
"the last time I went to Barcelona I bought a lot of things"

but British say

The emphatic "To do" and something else

I always have seen the verb to do like auxiliary to make questions or negations
But it’s the first time I see it like auxiliary to get emphasis
There are three ways as long as I know (que yo sepa)

One: to insist about you say, for example:
-She does look pretty.

Two: to contradict another person says, for example
-He didn’t come
-He did, but he didn’t stay long time

Three: To order to another person, for example:
Do sit down, please.

They do that with the “questions tags”, don’t they?

She is coming, isn’t she?
He admires you, doesn’t he?
It would be wonderful, wouldn’t it?

Something attracts attention to me:
When use “Everybody, somebody or nobody”
the verb is in singular but the question tag is in plural

Everybody is coming here, aren’t they?

Last weekend and Monday we went to "el llamón", so no course, no English TV, no blog, only the neighbour's farms with their cows, pigs, hens and the chicken. But I learnt an expression talking with Ton (my father in law if I was married), he teaches me this expression:

"up to you!"

it means "allá tú" o "tú mismo".

he also said me that "atract attention" the title of my past post, sounds like Asturian-English

so if you know other way to say "llamar la atención", please tell me.

I'm in my last attempt to improve my English
I hope it works!

I've been studding English since I was a child but never I've could talking fine. I only understand not American neither British people talking slowly in English. (very slowly)

So I've taken three decisions (or "I make three decisions)
one: To study a new course. This time a "on line" course.

two: To put the TV always in original version (V.O.) without subtitle.

three: To write (in this blog) all the new things I learn and attract attention to me.

well there's another decision, I must travel to London or any place to practice, one time before 2010 Like you can see, my English is not too good, but it gets better. (irá mejorando?)

Dia 1: Como es el día de llegada os recomiendo un paseo por Puerto del Carmen, pero sobre todo llegar al pueblo pesquero donde se puede cenar muy bien en Rte. "Puerto Viejo". La Playa es muy larga y quizás la zona mas tranquila es la que esta junto al Hotel San Antonio (lo mas al Sur). Se puede llegar a una calita que está por detrás del Hotel muy tranquila.
lo mejor es ir al final del otoño, es cuando hay mas contraste con la peni...allí es pleno verano y aqui es pleno invierno. pero bueno cualquier epoca es buena. disfrutarlo.

Dia 2: Visita a la zona del Parque Nacional Timanfaya, muy recomendable. Comida en el pueblo del Golfo, Rte. "Lago azul" (o algo así), está al final del pueblito. No marcharse sin visitar la laguna verde, es una maravilla de la naturaleza.

Dia 3: Visita al Sur de la Isla. Hay que ver las Playas de Papagayo. Ir con bocata.
(aqui es donde dice el chus que pases de todo y te tires toda la semana en la ultima playa del papagayo...sin moverte)

Dia 4: Subimos al Norte de la Isla. Ver Fundación Cesar Manrique, Jameos del agua, Jardín de cactus, Cueva de los Verdes. Comida en punta Mujeres, Rte. "Isla Bonita". Tarde en el Mirador del Rio. En Orzola también se come pescado fresco.

Dia 5: Ver la zona de la Geria, es la parte de cultivo de vino, visitar alguna Bodega y perderos por las carreteras del interior. Comer en Rte. "La Era" en Yaiza ó Rte. "La Bodega de Uga" en Uga (Caro).

Dia 6: Si estais algún Domingo, visitar el pueblo de Teguise y su mercadillo, pasar por la Playa de Famara y comer en el pueblo en el Rte. "El Sol"

Dia 7: Ir a la Playa para volver morenitos.

NOTA: Vino de la tierra recomendado. Bermejo blanco Seco.
Pescados: Bocinegro, Abae, Sama, Mero, dejaros aconsejar por la gente de allí.
Cenas Románticas: Rte. "Sterlitzia" en Tiagua. Rte. "Lagomar" en Nazaret
yo añadiria también una cena en los jameos del agua.

artista. escultor y pintor, pero ha tocado casi todas las modalidades artísticas, una de ellas la "pintura" con papel de seda creo que es exclusiva de él y a mi me encanta, sobretodo verle "pintar" recortando los trozos de colores de papel y pegándolos sobre el lienzo superponiéndolos para mezclar los colores. esto de aqui abajo es un ejemplo.

todos estos catálogos ademas, están llenos de recortes y citas literarias creo que muy bien elegidas, también en casi todos se describe al artista por algún periodista, profesor de arte...vamos que me gustan mucho y por eso los guardo y se vienen conmigo en cada traslado.

de su escultura "aviles", los conos de corten, no pongo nada, lo mejor es verlo en directo...dar un paseo por la ria de aviles y flipar un poco. para los que esteis lejos si poneis benja menendez aviles en google image se ven unas cuantas fotos.
